I feel like Gilligan May 15, 2016
…..who set upon a 3 hour tour and ended up ?????? We started the morning thinking that we’d look around and then come back to the apartment for a rest……….well that rest didn’t happen until after 4pm. Kim and I headed out the same basic way we went yesterday. We ended up having coffee and pizza for breakfast, (the Roman’s version of love at 425 degrees). It just so happened that we had it at the Pantheon, the place we passed at least twice last night and didn’t even realize it, ( we came so unprepared).
From there we walked the Spanish Steps and Triva Fountain, (again areas we went last night). We walked through a large city park, (Villa Borghese, 3rd. largest park in Rome) and then headed toward the river Tevere. After some time along the water’s edge we headed back toward the city for some Gelato. We then headed for the Collesium. We decided not to tour because the admission line was crazy long. There was a 3 person band performing on the street. We spent some time listen to these guys; two violins and one guitar. They were so enjoyable, it reminded us of the times we use to go to Saturday market and listen to all the street musicians. Our favorite was a pair of dulcimer players and one guitar. Our favorite song back then was Canon In D (Pachabel). It just so happened that these guys played that same tune. We ended up purchasing their CD and will always remember our day outside the Roman Coliseum.
