Picture update May 14, 2016
I am going to try and send some updated pictures. Some of you might have been following the Facebook posts of my very favorite traveling companion, (no not Colin the cray camel) but Kimmy. She has been able to send pictures, however I haven’t been so lucky, (maybe this is another reason to move into the 21st Century and get a smart phone……………..not.
This is one of the areas built up by Hermits that were attracted to the cliff caves in Meteora. These early efforts later became some magnificent buildings perched atop high rocks. Some of the structures require climbing a thousand steps to reach. It was to my pleasure and Kim’s disappointment that we weren’t able to visit that one.
This next shot is from out tour of the Acropolis in Athens. Another amazing historical site. We were given several statistics regarding its’ construction that brought new appreciation to these building experts.
You will notice Kim standing by a whole series of candles that people could purchase and place in specific areas of this Greek Orthodox church. Our guide said that the size of the candle depended on your appreciation or even guilt. They ranged from 30 cents to 15 Euro’s ( they were taller than Kim, no jokes). I will see how this post goes before I try and send more.
We are running out the door to catch our flight to Rome.
